The Common Grant Application (CGA) is a project of Oceanpeak, Inc.,
which is a privately held California
corporation incorporated in May of 2007 and located in
Santa Monica, California.
The development of the CGA started in 2006 and will enter initial
production in July 2007. The concept of the CGA arose from our
experience in the technology industry (co-founding and building a large
communications software company that was acquired by Intel Corporation
in 2000), our experience in the non-profit industry (founding a family
foundation that is currently receiving over 600 grant applications a
year and has made over $2.5 million of grants since its inception) and
having children that recently applied to college using the Common App.
The grant
making process, for both grantmakers and grantseekers, can be very
complicated, inefficient, expensive and time consuming.
Our vision is
simple, to simplify the art and science of giving.
The
Common Grant Application (www.commongrantapplication.com)
is a Web-based service developed to provide a simple, efficient and
inexpensive means for non-profit grantmakers to receive, review, track
and manage online grant applications and proposals from non-profit
grantseekers. This service is available to all grantseekers and all
grantmakers (including groups, associations and coalitions of
grantmakers).
Grantseekers will
be able to review the background and interests of grantmakers; manage
their contact, organization background, program and background
information; submit, track and manage applications to grantmakers; and
collaborate among each other. Grantmakers will be able to review the
background and activities of grantseekers; receive, track and manage
applications; collaborate among each other; export applications and
other reports into their own business information systems as needed.
